" Michael Hanna, Managing Partner of Performance Enhancement was Programme Director and prime mover in both the formation and strategic development of FIN, Furniture Innovation Network. In 2005 Michael prepared the successful funding submission to Interreg IIIA, accessing almost €500k to build 16 cross-border furniture manufacturers into a sustainable and functioning network.
In response to tidal influx of cheap imports from low wage overseas competition, Michael re-focused the more progressive members away from furniture into more service orientated specialist contract joinery.
This resulted in the creation of FIN Interiors, a design led service, sharing UK installation teams. Such improved capability empowered several FIN members to tender, and then win repeat fit-out contracts for hotel reception, pub and restaurants from leading UK chains. Other FIN members became first-time exporters delivering pre-hung doors and specialist joinery packages to various commercial and nursing home developments in London, Manchester and Glasgow.
FIN’s export expansion into the UK has been greatly assisted by the further award in 2007 of €400k from Enterprise Ireland. Again Performance Enhancement drafted and prepared the successful application under the Collaborative Networks Pilot Programme. "
